Wedding Shoe Buying Guide

Wedding Shoe Buying Guide

All our shoes are currently manufactured and sold in European or UK sizes. The shoe size charts below details approximate conversion of European sizes to UK and US women’s shoe sizes. However, please note that these are only meant as a rough guide.

We recommend the following depending on which bridal shoe brand you are ordering:

Pink Paradox
* If you occasionally fit a UK half shoe size – opt for a larger European size to ensure a comfortable fit.
* If you are not sure which size to purchase – consider the style of the shoes whether they are pointed-toe, have an enclosed back or are peep toe shoes or sandals as this will make a difference to the width fitting and the comfort of the shoes.
* If you require wide fitting or narrow fitting shoes, consider choosing a size larger to allow for extra or less room in the width of the shoes.
* If you require wide or narrow fitting shoes we can advise on some styles which are naturally narrower or wider in fit.

Rainbow Club
* Choose a half size in these ranges if you occasionally fit a half size shoe in the UK or are between sizes. The difference between a half size and a full size is approximately 5mm.
* If you require wide fitting shoes, some styles are available in the plus-fit collection. You can also check what width fitting each shoe is in this range as some are slightly wider than average and you may not need a full EE width fitting.

Perfect Bridal
*
This range is manufactured in standard UK sizes

Please do not hesitate to email us if you require further advice about shoe sizes and fitting.

Measuring the Heel Height of your Wedding Shoes

The heel heights advertised on our website are supplied by each individual brand manufacturer. These measurements are approximate and to the best of our knowledge as accurate as possible. The heel height is measured by placing a ruler or tape measure in a straight line on the floor next to the shoes. The measurement is taken from the floor up to where the heel joins the shoe.

We always recommend that you wear the actual shoes you will be wearing on your wedding day for your dress fitting. All adjustments to your dress should be made using the correct shoes with the correct heel height.

Achieving the Perfect Fit

Bridal shoes are specialist footwear – sizes and fitting of bridal shoes will always differ from everyday footwear you may purchase in a high street outlet. For this reason, achieving the perfect fit is essential. It is common for sizes to fit differently between the different brands of bridal shoes on offer – we recommend that you use half sizes, wide fitting options and full or half gel insoles to ensure your wedding shoes fit you comfortably.

A good fitting shoe is when there is no gap between your foot and the sides or back of the shoe. The arch of your foot should sit comfortably in the arch of the shoe and your toes should have a bit of space to move freely. Your shoes shouldn’t slip when you walk. It is normal for one foot to be slightly bigger than the other so we advise trying half or full gel insoles to ensure you achieve a snug fit.

Bridal shoes are made of silk or satin fabric so will also ‘give’ slightly and fit you better when they have been worn and walked in before the big day. We usually advise that the fabric will ‘give’ about 25%-30% after a few days wear.

Shoe Buying Tips…

A stunning pair of wedding shoes can add that all important wow factor to your wedding dress or simply add a delicate finishing touch to your bridal look. Every bride wants to feel comfortable on her wedding day so the comfort factor is vital – but how your wedding shoes complement your dress and how they complete your overall bridal look and wedding theme is also important in making the big decision!

Choosing the right style
Even under a longer wedding gown, your shoes will be noticed – as you lift your dress to walk, when you are stepping out of your car or carriage and especially if you want photographs of ‘the shoes’! For a simple pair of non-fussy heels, choose from the plain and simple collections by Rainbow Club, Pink Paradox and Perfect Bridal and add a sparkly shoe clip for an evening reception transformation! If you want something elegant to complement a lace or vintage-style dress, how about a pair of 1950s dance-style T-bars or some peep-toe lace bridal heels in our Perfect Bridal range

Shoes to complement your wedding dress
Consider the style of your dress when you are choosing your wedding shoes. Your shoes should complement the style of your dress but, at the same time, make your bridal look unique. If your dress is heavily embroidered or beaded, choose similar style beaded shoes or opt for plain, classic wedding shoes. If your dress is very simple, browse our various designs of shoe clips to add some necessary sparkle!

Comfortable wedding shoes
Comfort factor is vital when choosing footwear for your big day! You will be on your feet for most of the day – from walking down the aisle to receiving guests to performing the traditional wedding dance! If you aren’t used to wearing high heels, use our shoe finder to search for kitten heel bridal shoesflat bridal shoes or if you don’t want to compromise on style, a platform will help cushion your feet and make heels easier to walk in so browse different styles of platform wedding shoes.

The right shoes for the occasion
Outdoor weddings, beach weddings and themed weddings are really popular for brides-to-be. Choose wedding shoes to suit the occasion such as wedge bridal shoes for a wedding on a lawn, bridal sandals or pumps for a beach wedding or glamorous high heel wedding sandals for a Hollywood themed glitzy evening reception.

The bridesmaids’ shoes should also reflect and complement the style of wedding – use our shoe dyeing service to match the bridesmaids’ shoes to their colourful dresses or try silver and gold bridal shoes from our occasion ranges.

Ivory and White Wedding Shoes
The Pink Paradox, Rainbow Club, and Perfect Bridal shoes are all available in Ivory silk or satin. The ivory shade will vary between brands – whereas some brands are a more creamy shade, others are a softer, muted tone. All ivory shoes are dyeable to your requirements using our shoe dyeing service.

White wedding shoes can be found among some of the brands we stock. There are selected styles readily available in white silk or white satin such as Jennifer by Rainbow Club. The majority of shoes in the Pink Paradox or Rainbow collections can also be bleached to a soft white shade for a small charge.

Evening / Party / Occasion Shoes and Sandals

All our ranges of designer shoes are suitable for evening wear, party wear, balls, proms, and any other special occasion. Shoes can be dyed black using our shoe dyeing service to wear with the classic black evening dress or dyed any other colour to match your party outfit.

Choose from our wide range of shoe styles to suit the occasion – slim heel evening sandals for a cocktail party, elegant pointed-toe shoes for a ball or stylish peep-toes to vamp up your jeans for a special night out!
